Raku ceramics are created using an ancient technique developed in Japan.

The origin of 'Raku ware' began with the making of a single tea bowl for a tea ceremony in 16th century Japan by Raku Chojiro. Raku is the name of a ceramic style that is synonymous with the family that has made it, now through 15 generations of potters. Now used worldwide, this ceramic technique is practiced by many autonomous craftsmen to produce functional pottery and decorative art objects. Translated, the word "Raku" means pleasure.
